Follow up Behavior Evaluation

* make them work for everything they do or get
* stop handfeeding them and put their food in thier project toys for two weeks
* make them sit before and after every behavior
* reward them for playing with thier toys (priase and treats)
* give them more project toys (more Kongs, Twist-a-Treat, Kong goodie ball, Kong bone, etc.)
* if they bark when on tie down play the on/off swich game. Everytime they bark, I get up and walk away. I turn around as soon as they are quiet.
* work with Moped solo re: the door program
I told Lauren and Misty that we were feeling distraught over the dog's behavior. We wondered if there was any hope for change. We wanted to know if they had potential to be obedient dogs. We were feeling hopeless about the situation. Lauren asked they we give it two months (the duration of the training classed) and then reevaluate. I told her we could do that.
Lauren suggested putting Moped in Doggy Day Care (DDC). She said that Canine Campus would be a good place. I put a call into them that day. It would give Moped a place to get out a lot of energy and it would give me a break for a few hours. Skooter is okay at home for a few hours at a time. I wouldn't have thought of this on my own, so I was grateful for the suggestion. I felt releived that Laruen said that the dogs had potential and that there was hope for them being obedient dogs. She told me to remember that they are both still puppies (Skooter is 21 months old and Moped is 8 months old). I remember going through this stage with Skooter where I thought he would never calm down. But he had calmed down and I'm sure that Moped will too.
Moped still isn't getting any free time when he is in the house because he runs around and steal things.
