Instructor is Ruth.
We worked on 'sit', 'flat' without a cue (he can do it on cue though), and gotcha (putting a hand on his collar and treating him). Moped did okay at first then got very distracted. He did sit for a classmate when treated. I felt like it was chaotic again. He dumped over his water bowl and would not play with any of the toys I brought. He ate the hot dogs out of the Kong Saucer, but that lasted about 5 seconds. He was totally distracted.
Homework - Read:
'Parenting Canines' (already read it)
'Neutering' (already read it)
'You are What You Eate' (already read it)
Practice:
* Sit * Flat without a cue * Gotcha
Moped did well with sit in class. He struggled with flat without a cue. He was fine with 'gotcha'. Their was a puppy play time. He was suppose to sit before being unleashed, but we could not get him to sit. Then he was too distracted by the other puppies who were already off leash. The instructor told us to let him off leash without sitting. He played really well with the other dogs. He was not aggressive at all. When we got back into training, he was again distracted by the other dogs. He had a bite of apple from a project toy but disregarded his other toys (tuffie ring, duck, hurley bone).
Overall I felt like I was tripping over my own feet and that it was too chaotic. Moped did not perform well, but he is a puppy and he is learning these things for the first time. I need to have patience and not let my perfectionism get in the way.
