Afraid of the yard

David mowed the grass in the back yard tonight. It was really long. He did a great job. Now it will be easier for me to clean up after the dogs. The funny thing is that Huxley was scared to go out into the newly cut lawn. I think she didn't recognize her own yard! :-) Blitz was okay with it. Speaking of Blitz, she's still whining and barking for no apparent reason. Lisa said it could be an ear infection so I'll probably have the vet come and take a look at her ears.

Such good girls

I went over to Lisa's this afternoon. I left the girls in the house. I was gone for about four hours. They did just fine. They were excited when I got home though. I gave them lots of 'tensions and they enjoyed that. Then David got home and they got excited again. Now they are kicking back. Huxley is playing with the tug rope and Blitz is napping. It's nice to know that I can leave them for a while and not have to worry about them. I decided not to take them to doggie day care today. Maybe one day next week I'll bring them to Preppy Pet.

Blitz is a weirdo

Blitz has been acting weird today. She's been whining and barking off and on all day. She's never done this before so I don't know why she's doing it now. Huxley has been her usual self, just laying around all day. They took a nap with us earlier. It took a while to get everyone situated but we finally did it. It's raining out. I let the girls out for a few minutes. They don't mind being out in the rain. Stephanie, the beagle next door, was out too. They don't seem near as interested in Stephanie as Skooter and Moped were. I think it's because they are all girls. It's a bit after nine p.m. and the girls have gone to bed ahead of us. I might bring them to doggie day care tomorrow so I'll be out in the afternoon. They need the socialization. I'm so glad Preppy Pet has opened in our area. Well, it's time to go shove them over so I can go to bed. :-)

Early to bed...

It was a cool, rainy day today. The girls slept most of the day. I had to go out in the morning and afternoon so I left the girls in the house, not in the laundry room. They did just fine both times. And tonight they went to bed early. Earlier than us. David went to bed and they just stayed there. They're all in bed now. Huxley is laying in my spot, up by my pillow! I'm going to have to move her to get into bed. That ought to be fun. They usually give me enough room to sleep comfortably. I'll get them up to out, let them in and then try to get into bed before they do. Wish me luck.

Going for a ride to Woodland Park

We piled the girls in the Jeep and took off for Woodland Park. This is a picture of the beginning or our ride.

The girls enjoyed the ride up to Woodland Park. They settled in quickly and got comfortable.

We stopped at McDonalds on the way out of Woodland Park and we got the girls their regular: plain hamburgers. They devoured them in seconds. I even shared my cheeseburger with them. You can see Huxley trying to get to my cheeseburger.

The girls love putting their head out the window. I took this picture of Blitz through the side view mirror.

And here is a picture of blitz just because she looks so cute.

Beautiful girls

Isn't this a great picture of the girls? You can see their collars really well. They were kind of pooped out because I let them out front and they ran around the cul de sac for a while. They eventually came home.

Here they are sitting at David's feet. Aren't they cute?

I filled their dog pillow with some foam I bought at Wal-Mart. It's much softer now. Huxley is sleeping on it.

They whined quite a bit while we were out doing yard work. They wanted to come out too. But all they want to do is run wild! :-) I wish they would just come out and stay in the yard with us.

Tomorrow we might go up to Woodland Park. If we do, we'll bring the girls for the ride. They like going in the car. I'll try to remember to take a picture of them in the car. The restraints I bought work really well. I feel so much more relaxed knowing that they are tied down while we drive.

Last night they hogged up so much of the bed that David slept in the guest room! Can't have that happening. They are going to have to share the bed with the both of us. Silly girls.

Playing outside

The girls played outside in the yard for a while today. It's a beautiful day and they enjoyed being out.

Jumping the gate

We went out to Lowe's tonight to pick up some wood for the deck. We left the girls at home with the gate up. However, when I got home they were BOTH on the wrong side of the gate. They had jumped over the gate. They were all excited to be over the gate. I made them jump back over to the living room side of the gate.

The only problem I've been having with them is that they keep going into the cat's litter box. I'm going to get a cover for it to keep them out of it. That should do the trick.

I'm going to try to bring them into doggie day care next week, just for a day. They need to get out and about at least once a week.

They saw the squirrel jump into the tree behind the fence and now every time they go out they run for the tree looking for the little fur ball. They run around the yard all excited looking for it.

They are both sleeping right now. Soon it will be time for bed. I try to sneak into bed so I can get some room and covers but it just never seems to work. They are bed hogs. But at least they're not as bad as Skooter was :-)

Home from doggy day care

I picked Huxley and Blitz up from doggy day care around 11am. They were so happy to see me. Tom gave them a bath and put bandanas on them. They feel really soft. Softer than when I got them groomed at PetCo. Tom was great with them and gave them lots of 'tensions when they left. They were great on the ride home and they were excited to get there. We all took a nap this afternoon. David and I got up, but the girls stayed in bed for hours after us. They must have been worn out from all the excitement at doggy day care. They are sleeping on the couch right now. I was taking a picture of Huxley sitting at David's feet and Blitz walked right in front and sat down. Guess she wanted her picture taken too. I can't download the picture right now so I'll try to do it tomorrow.

Email from Preppy Pet

I asked Ela if the girls played with the other dogs much.

"little bit but not so much playing with the other dogs they kind of like to play with each other and hang out with each other the best. They like to play with the ball and human attention, It seems to me that with some dogs that get boarded each day the dog reacts better- it gets to know the schedule and the people/other dogs there and they like that (schedule/routine). Some act like they dont care where they are at- they are just happy to be alive and love everybody."

Another picture of Woody

Here's another picture of Woody. He's such a cute little guy.

Graduation Day

There was a canine companion puppy at the graduation today. A little yellow lab. Very cute. Two days until I see Huxley and Blitz again. I miss them. Hope they are doing okay. I also hope they are excited to see me on Tuesday morning. I asked Ela to give them both a bath before they leave the kennel. With boarding, playing and baths, the bill will be up there, but it is so worth it to have them in good hands while they are not with me.

Email from Ela

I got an email back from Ela. Here's what it says "The girls are doing fine. Blitz was whining yesterday more so then Huxley (hardley nothing at all) but then Tom started to paly ball with then 1:1 in the back they just both LOVED it so much. They were having such a good time. Just like my 2 boys when they play catch, anyways I taped a little bit of it and will give/send to you when i download the pic/video later this week." It's so good to know that they are being cared for so well. I asked Ela if they are playing with the other dogs at all. I really look forward to seeing the pictures and video. It's so nice of her to do that for me. I really like that Tom spends 1:1 time with them. They are such people dogs that they really need that. Well, it's time to get ready for Gabe's graduation. I'll check for an email from Ela when I get back tonight.

Long day

Well, it's the end of a very long day. I've been up since 3:30am and it's after midnight already. I hope Huxley and Blitz are doing okay and aren't whining too much. I don't want them to be sad. I'm going to send Ela an email right after I post this entry. I'm just going to ask her how the girls are doing. It's going to be weird to sleep tonight without dogs or cats on the bed. This is the time when I miss the girls the most - when I'm sitting quietly and wish I could see them sleeping and hear Blitz snoring.

Never heard back from Nancy on the paperwork I sent to her. I'm not sure why she hasn't sent it back or why she hasn't responded to my email. No big deal though. They don't have to be registered and I'll just have to see about getting them microchipped again. I'm not sure if we can do that or not, but I'll look into it.

I spend some time tonight showing the grandkids pictures of Skooter, Moped, Huxley and Blitz. I also showed them their little videos on the dog blog. It made me sad and happy all at the same time seeing Moped and Skooter. I sure do miss them.

Okay, it's late and I want to send that email to Ela so I can get to bed. I'm sure I'll hear from Ela later today (it's after midnight).

Woody

Here is a picture of Huxley and Blitz's future friend: Woody. Hope he's not embarrassed that we caught him in the tub! :-)

Milwaukee

We've arrived in Milwaukee. I've been thinking about the girls all day long. I hope they did okay through the night. They're in doggy day care right now. I'll email Ela and see how they are doing. Maybe she'll have some pictures for me.

They are boarding now

It's just after 7pm. The girls should be in their kennel for the night. The cats have enjoyed having the dogs 'go on vacation'. They've been out in the living room all afternoon. This is what cats do when the dogs are away:

They play with my shoes! That's Paulie laying near the dogs bed, with his paw on my shoe. I've put out plenty of water and food for the cats. It should last them beyond Monday night. I wonder how much the girls are whining right now since they are without people? They do leave a TV on in the kennel room, so hopefully that will keep them relaxed. And they have their blanket which is something familiar to them. They also have at least one other dog being boarded for the weekend (the blind one) to keep them company.

David asked me, now that Huxley and Blitz are out of the house, if I still want them. I do. I really do. I miss them and they keep me company when David is working. I know they are still not on great terms with the cats but that will change over time. I'm going to try to set up playdates for Huxley and Blitz with Woody and Sammy. I'd like to see them socialize more with other dogs. They'll get lots of that the next few days at the Preppy Pet.

Boarding

I dropped the girls off at Preppy Pet for boarding around 2:30pm. They seemed excited to be there. Tom took them right out to play fetch. It sounded like there were quite a few dogs there today. I forgot to bring their blanket over when I dropped them off, so I had to make a second trip to bring it by for Huxley and Blitz. Then of course I forgot my camera. But Ela generously offered to use their camera to take pictures and videos of the girls for me. Awesome! The girls will get to play everyday and sleep in an upgraded (for free!) extra large kennel at night. They will be fed in the morning and the evening (1 cup per dog).

It is so weird to not have the girls around. I miss them already. It will be nice to sleep without them in bed tonight though. ;-) I'm already excited to pick them up on Tuesday.

I asked Ela about them whining yesterday and she said that they definitely are people dogs. They whine until Ela or Tom come into the play area. I'm sure they will do okay though after the initial adjustment. I know I'll be thinking about them every day and wondering how they are doing. If I bring my laptop with me on the trip, I'll send Ela an email on Sunday to see how they are getting along.

The girls really liked Sue. She gave them lots of 'tensions and they loved it. Here's Sue with Blitz.

The girls were out on the deck today enjoying the sun.

Madame Sammay

The girls were excited to see me when I went to pick them up. I asked Tom how they did. He said they are very people friendly, they love playing fetch and the whined a bit (probably because I wasn't there). Overall they did really well. I'll bring them back tomorrow afternoon to check in for boarding. I asked Tom if I needed to bring food for them while they are boarded. He said I could if I wanted to, but they could also feed them. I'll probably do that so I don't have to carry food over there. On the way home, they both napped. They must have had a busy, exciting day. Right now they are both out like lights, napping hard. Wouldn't take much to wear them out, so today must have been a real high energy day for them.

Woody (Lisa's dog) napped on Lisa's lap the majority of the time that I was there. He was so calm today. He's getting used to us coming over. Lisa said she'd send me a picture of Woody so I can add him to the dog blog. I'll have Lisa come over and bring Woody with her so he can play with Huxley and Blitz and I'll take some pictures of them playing together. Kitty said I could add Sammy to the dog blog. Here he is dressed up by the girls as Madame Sammay.

Doggy day care

This is the Preppy Pet building. It's only minutes from the house.
These are the owners Tom and Ela.

I brought Huxley and Blitz over to Preppy Pet for doggy day care today. They did fine on the ride over and while we we're checking in. They met another dog in the lobby who was also going to be staying the weekend. So they'll have company. I think the girls will do well at doggy day care. I'll pick them up by four this afternoon. I can't wait to find out how they did. I want to call just to check on them, but I don't want to look like an over-protective mom. :-) I know that Ela would call if there were any problems. I don't know how many dogs they have there today, but it sounded like quite a few. I'm so glad this doggy day care opened up on our side of town. Perfect timing too since we go away this weekend to Milwaukee for Gabe's graduation. It's weird not having the dogs around though. I miss them. But it's nice to not have to worry about them while I get stuff done today. Tom came out and greeted the girls. They were very friendly. Ela brought them into the play area.

I have to remember to ask Ela what time I can check them in tomorrow and if I need to bring food from home for them. I'm not sure how that works. I'll ask her this afternoon when I pick up the girls.

Huxley

Huxley jumped over the gate yesterday. She came in the house, got really excited and jumped over the gate! She came right back over though. She's a lot more spry than I thought she was. I hope she doesn't try to jump the fence. We went out for a little bit this evening and we left them in the house with the gate up. They did just fine. Someone came by the house this afternoon to buy the range and I let him in the house. The girls behaved really well. When David asked them to sit, they did. They were very calm and weren't jumping up and down or being a nuisancce. They don't bolt out the door either (except when I forget and leave it completely open and let them out of the laundry room ;-) ). Even if they did get out, I know they would come back. They don't like being out all that much. They are napping now.

The latest pictures

I snapped this picture of Huxley and Blitz earlier today. Huxley has her leg up on Blitz. It's cute.

And here's a picture of them out on the deck. They love looking for bunnies.

Another drive

We took the girls for a ride again up to Woodland Park. They did great in the car. It was hot out today so I brought a bottle of water for them. They drank the water out of a cup. We were only up at the house for a few minutes so I kept them in the Jeep while I went into the house and picked up a couple things. We parked them in the shade and gave them water. Then on the way out we saw some deer. The dogs didn't pay much attention to them. The deer were right in someone's front yard. We stopped down by the river and put the girls on leash and I took them for a walk. I thought they'd splash in the water but they didn't seem to care for the water. It might have been too cold for them. They liked being out for the walk though. I gave them some more water. They loved it. They mostly slept on the way home (imagine that!). We drove around the loop in the neighborhood and we went by a cat out on the street. Huxley was intently staring at the cat. When we got home, David took Huxley and Blitz over to see the Deno's. They were very well behaved and even sat when David asked them to. Then David brought them over to the house to let them out into the backyard. I finally got to cleaning up the back yard this afternoon. I hadn't been able to keep up with it because of my back problem. But it's cleaned up now and David's going to mow it tomorrow (if it doesn't rain). Then I'll be able to keep up with it every day now that my back is feeling better.

I'm really looking forward to bringing the girls to doggy day care this Thursday. It will give me the day to do stuff and not have to worry about them. I can't believe I'm going to have four nights without them starting Friday. I'm going to miss them while we are gone. It's really nice to know that doggy day care and boarding are available on this side of town now.

The girls are sleeping right now. Huxley is under David's chair and Blitz is on her blanket. They've had a long day and will be ready for bed tonight. So will I.

All the girls on the couch

Today Kitty came over to give me a ride to the surgical center to get my steroid shot in my back. She got to meet Huxley and Blitz. They were fairly well behaved, but very excited to meet Kitty. Their tails and butts were wiggling a 100 mph. Happy dogs. I put them in the laundry room while I was gone and they, of course, did just fine. They were happy to come out of the laundry room and see Kitty again before they went outside. I took a nap on the couch with them until about 1pm. They were happy to see David when he got home. Then they layed down with me again on the couch.

You can see Huxley on the left and Blitz on the right. They both were laying on my legs. I had to get up though because I wasn't all that comfortable with them on me. They're on the couch right now napping.

We weren't going to let them sleep with us last night but David heard one of them whine and he told me to let them into the bedroom to sleep with us. They were happy about that. Tonight though, because of my back, I might have them sleep in the living room. I don't think they will whine very much. They are fairly well behaved dogs.

I was thinking a lot about Skooter and Moped (Duke) today. I see the pictures of Moped when he was a baby and it really makes me miss him. And I miss Skooter's face a whole bunch. I know they are doing well though and that I've done the right thing by letting them find new homes. I don't think that I will ever stop missing them.

I wonder how Woody is doing on his vacation up in Estes Park? I'm sure he's having a great time with Mike, Lisa and the boys. I'd like to take my girls on vacation with us some time.

I've got to clean up the back yard tomorrow so David can mow the lawn. I haven't been able to keep up with it because of my back. It won't take me long to clean, but it's got to get done.

I'll miss the girls being in bed with me tonight but I've got to have room and not be squished tonight. I was missing them last night before I let them into the room.

Oh yeah, David was goofing around with Blitz this morning and she obviously didn't like what he was doing so she snapped at him. She's still pretty timid and doesn't like to be messed with. David got upset, but I told him that she didn't mean any harm and we need to be gentle with her (even though she's a massive GSP!). She's really very sweet. And so is Huxley.

Lazy girls

The girls look really good after their bath. They are enjoying a nap right now.

Grooming day

I brought the girls over to PetCo for grooming. They did really well on the ride over there. I didn't have any trouble getting them out of the car. They were really good in the store. They waited for me without pulling me all around. They went back in to be groomed without any fuss. I ran into Lisa and Graeme and Woody on my way out of the store. Woody was all excited to be at PetCo. It took only a little over an hour for the girls to get groomed. They feel so much softer and their nails have been clipped too. They really needed a bath and nails clipped. I didn't have any trouble getting them into the car for the ride home. They did just fine on the ride home. They're both sleeping right now. The white on them looks so much whiter now. The look beautiful.

Dr. G comes at 5pm to give them their bordetella shots. I know they will do great with Dr. G. This is to get them ready for doggy day care.

Wednesday, May 9, 2007

Bath time

Tomorrow I'm taking the girls to PetCo for grooming (bath, nails, ears, etc.). They really could use a bath and they definitely need their nails clipped. I hope they do okay because I don't know how often they were groomed in the past. Tomorrow night Dr. G is coming by to give them their bordetella shots. They'll then be ready for doggy day care next Thursday and boarding from Friday until Tuesday (while we're in Milwaukee for Gabe's graduation).

David went to bed early tonight and they girls went with him. I just let them out. They came back in and went straight back to bed! They are spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. And I'm glad that they are.

I sent the necessary paperwork to Nancie but I haven't got it back yet. I can't get them transferred over to us until I get that paperwork. The most important thing is to get their microchip info transferred to me so if they get lost we'd have a better chance of getting them back.

Well, I'm going to go join David and the girls in bed. Hopefully they'll give me a bit of room and some blankets tonight! :-)

Doggy day care

I went by Preppy Pet Suites today to take a tour. What a nice facility! One of the things that I really liked was that they separate dogs by size in the inside play areas. There is a rotation of each group to the outside play area. There are lots of play pieces in the outside area. It is covered in pea gravel. The boarding kennels are great. They'll both fit in one kennel without a problem. And I get to bring their blanket for them to lay on. I'm going to bring them in next Thursday for a day at doggy day care. Then they'll go back Friday to be boarded until Tuesday. They still have some detail work to do, but the facility is up and running as of today. I'm very excited to have a doggy day care on this side of town. It will be so convenient. I'm sure the girls will do well there.

This Thursday I'm bringing them in for grooming, nail trim, etc. at PetCo. They really need a bath and for their nails to be trimmed. I hope they do okay with the grooming. Then in the afternoon Dr. G is coming by to give them their bordetella shot.

They saw a couple of rabbits out on the playground while they were out in the backyard and went nuts. They wanted those rabbits. They are sleeping right now, on the couch.

I got a card in the mail for Skooter for his free birthday toy at PetsMart. I mailed it to Kris to send to Skooter's family.

Huxley

Huxley gets to be the spoiled girl tonight!

Left in the house alone!

We went out for about an hour and we left the girls in the house, not in the laundry room. We wanted to see how they would do if they had run of the house while we weren't here. They did just fine. Didn't chew on anything. Last time we left Skooter in the house by himself (just before we got Moped) he chewed on a window sill and the baseboard in two areas of the house (dining room and computer room). I couldn't believe that he chewed the baseboard. It was like Skooter knew that things were going to change once Moped got here and it was stressing him out. He had to be kept in his kennel when we went out after that episode. I'll still probably keep the girls in the laundry room the majority of the time, but if we're gone for just a short time we can let them have the run of the house. They were happy when we got home though.

I was looking at pictures of Skooter and Moped and it made me sad. I miss their cute, fuzzy faces. They are adorable boys. I'm glad they are doing well with their new families.

I'm going to get the bordetella shot for the girls and then bring them over to Preppy Pet for doggy day care and a bath. I don't know if they've ever been properly grooomed or not. Hopefully they'll do okay. I'm excited to get them into doggy day care so they can socialize more. And it will give a few hours without having to rush home.

Huxley and Blitz have been playing a lot today, play fighting. Blitz was actually on her back with her belly up in the air. They flea bite each other. It's so cute. Nothing near as manic as Skooter and Moped play fighting. The girls are having such a good time rollling around and playing. Their collars look so good on them. I got a tandem leash hook up for them so I can use just one leash for both of them. That will keep me from getting tangled up in two leashes. I also got their tags (name, address and phone number). They are blue, bone-shaped metal tags. I'll get new Home Again tags once I get them transferred over. I sent the paperwork to Nancie so she could sign as the former owener. I'm getting their microchip transferred over to me and I'm getting them registered AKC. Huxley will be 'Samantha's Lady of the Lake' and her sister Blitz will be named 'Samantha's Lady of the Loch'.

I haven't emailed Kris yet about not boarding the dogs down there because I want to make sure I can get them set up at Preppy Pet.

They are laying down, yet again, and Huxley is licking Blitz's ear. She does that quite often. She loves her sister.

The girls

Yesterday I accidentally let the dogs out the front door. The ran all around the cul-de-sac. They had a great time. They weren't out there very long. And amazingly they came right home when I called them.

Today we took them for a ride up to the house in Woodland Park. They did really well going there and coming back home. They didn't like being in the dog pen though. They whined and barked the whole time that we were there. They tried digging their way out too! On the way out of Woodland Park we stopped at McDonalds. We got the girls a plain hamburger. They devoured them. They really enjoyed that little treat. They slept some of the way home. I brought Blitz in on leash but David let Huxley out off leash. She came right to the door when I called her. They are such good girls.

I need to get them set up at Preppy Pet for boarding and doggy day care. I have to get both of them a bordetella shot before they can go to the day care. They'll have a great time in day care I think. As long as they don't have any separation anxiety. This will be good for them to socialize with other dogs, other people and be away from me a bit.

Living the good life

Blitz on the couch. What a spoiled girl she is.

Pictures of Skooter on his 2nd birthday

Skooter's family sent these pictures of him at Doggy Day Care on 5/1/07. He looks great! Isn't it interessting how the GSP's have formed a gang :-)

I'm going to keep the Girls

I talked to Lisa and Kitty today and they said they could help out with the dogs if we want to go for a day or half a day drive without the girls. They said we could bring them over to their house or they would come over to our house to let them out. I also got a coupon in the mail from a place called Preppy Pet, a doggy day care and boarding kennel. I looked them up on line (www.preppypet.com) and they look great. I called and they are very reasonably priced. I think I'm going to board them there instead of taking them down to Penrose. It will save us a few hours of traveling. And maybe once a week I can let them go to doggy day care so I can have a day to run errands and stuff. Because of all of these new options, keeping them won't be an issue. I don't think I ever could have given them up anyway. I already love them. They are my girls.

Fostering

Fostering dogs is not easy. I get so attached so quickly. I have kept some distance because I know we're just fostering them for now. But, I'm hooked on them already. I just don't know that now is a good time for us to own two dogs. It does tie us down somewhat, not that we have big travel plans. But, even if we just want to go out for the day, we'd either have to take them with us or have someone come by and let them out for us. Also, money is an issue for us right now and it does cost money to have dogs (food, treats, toys, vets, if needed). But I look at them sleeping together on the blanket on the floor and I just can't imagine not having them. Or, more to the point, I can't imagine someone else having them. It may be that when I bring them down to the Rescue before we leave on our trip, that I will have made arrangements for them to stay there until Kris can find them a home. I'd miss them tremendously, but now just doesn't seem like a good time to have two dogs. And David still misses Skooter and Moped and isn't getting very attached to Huxley and Blitz because he still misses them. I have to make a decision soon though.

Birthdays

Skooter's 2nd birthday was yesterday. Moped's 1st birthday is in June. Huxley and Blitz celebrate their 7th birthday in August. They are both sleeping right now. No, really, they are sleeping again! I sent Nancie an email to let her know that the girls are doing great. I also included a couple of pictures in the email. It's been raining most of the day today, but I've managed to get the girls out inbetween showers. They've been out quite a few times. They had a barking session earlier. Not sure what they were barking at though. They slept with us again last night. Somehow we all fit in the bed. Unfortunately David isn't sleeping too well with them in bed with us so I'm going to have to get them to sleep on their blanket or on the couch tonight. They love the new food I have for them. It's a Low Fat Senior blend. And they LOVE the liver biscotti treats! I'm glad they took to the food so quickly. The Furry Friends food is just so much better for them than anything I could buy at the store. (www.furryfriendsinc.com). And it's not that much more expensive. And no pet food recalls on Furry Friends products! I'm not sure how long 25lbs will last so I'll have to keep an eye on it since I can only get a delivery on Tuesdays. Blitz is running in her sleep. She must be dreaming. I wonder if Moped has grown much? Surely he's bigger than he was. He had a lot of growing to do. Blitz is a BIG GSP. She has huge paws and a big head. She's very tall. And she's a black and silver color. She's gorgeous. I'd never seen a black and silver GSP before Blitz. And now Kris has a few of them down at the Rescue (they are Shea's puppies). They are quite adorable. I want to get the girls some more toys that challenge their brains (like a Tug a Jug, a Busy Buddy). I'll have to look online and see what's available.

Harvest

It's been a little over a year now that Skooter's mom has been gone. I remember so well crying when I read the letter from their breeder, Dave. I was sad to know that Skooter would never be able to visit her again. I'm glad he had the opportunity to visit her before she passed away.

Birthday boy!

Happy Birthday, Skooter! You're 2 years old today! I love you and I miss you. Your mom.
