We would have taken him back

David and I both thought the same thing when we read that Mopes had been returned: we would take him back. Thankfully he already has a new home. It was so good to hear about him. I wonder if he really did have medical problems. I'm just glad he's okay now.

Update from Kris on Moped aka Duke

Here's what Kris had to say:

"Thought I'd bring you up to date on Moped.

He got returned a week ago this past Saturday from the family that we had placed him with in Castle Rock. They were all teary eyed . They said that he has a medical problem that causes him to lose weight and have constant diarrhea. Well, when they brought him here, his weight was just fine and his stool appeared totally normal. I guess we'll never know the real reason they returned him - our clause in the contract says that we'll take the dog back - no questions asked, so I guess that part will remain a mystery.

Moped looked wonderful! He is a very bouncy, happy boy. His appearance hasn't changed much - he's just a bigger model than before. Very well mannered, loved playing with all the youngsters we have here and was delightful to have visit - yep visit, he got adopted the very next day. This all happened so quickly that I didn't even get a picture taken of him to post to the website. An absolutely wonderful family that lives up in the mountains nearby Aspen adopted him. They recently lost their 6-year old GSP to cancer and now were ready to add another GSP to their life. The family consists of mom and dad, daughter age 11, and son age 17. All dog crazy and a very active family. They own a monstrous home with about 35 acres of mountainside. Only 5 acres of that is fenced with the invisible fencing and Moped is learning to respect the boundaries. I've gotten a couple of updates on his progresses, but still no picture. When I receive one, I will send it on to you.

Moped is safe, he's in good hands and he has turned out to be a wonderful young dog. I never heard him bark or anything. Such a good boy.

So there's an update on at least one of your baby boys."

I'm so glad to know that he was adopted out right away. Otherwise I'd want to go get him. :-)

Berries

I picked up the girls. They smell like berries. They were able to clip their nails pretty short. I am very happy with the job they did. It cost $70. I saved $10 in coupons. I am very happy and so are they. They feel so soft and smell so good. They really deserved this and so did we. They are too excited for me to get a picture of them. I'll take one tomorrow when it's light out. I'm so glad we have the money to get them groomed. It's worth every penny.

Grooming was on sale today!

I brought the dogs over to PetCo. They seemed to enjoy the ride over. When I tried to walk them in they wouldn't go in. There was an animal rescue place outside the door and they had cats. Yikes! At one point Blitz got out of her collar and ran. Thankfully she came back when I called her. I was terrified. I saw that there was a door inside the double doors to get into the grooming place. I brought them in that way so if they got off the lead they would at least be in the store. I got them to go into the grooming place. They also had a hard time going back into the kennel area. I couldn't believe they were acting like that. I told the girl to call me if she had any trouble with them. She hasn't called. They were having a deal on the works today so I got everything done for only $70 (plus tax I think). I saved about $20. Woohoo! And I'll have sweet smelling babies when I pick them up. Which should be any time now. It's 6pm and they've been there for about 2 hours now.

The phone just rang. It was PetCo. I have to go pick up the girls.

'The Works'

I'll be taking the girls, in about a half an hour, to get groomed, nails clipped and teeth brushed. They will be gorgeous and smell delicious when they are done. It'll cost a bit more than I was planning on spending to get 'the works' but it needs to be done and I'd rather just do it now instead of going multiple times. I'm sure they will enjoy it. They'll love getting out, I know that. I'll take pictures of them once I get them home. They are napping with David right now. Lazy dogs.

Peed on the carpet AGAIN!!

One of the girls peed on the carpet in the living room today. We're not sure which one of them did it because we didn't actually see either of them do it. Thankfully it cleaned up okay. I can't believe that one of them did that right in front (well, okay not in front) of us. I was busy going through the paper and I'm not sure what David was doing. I've already given the girls their medicine for the night. They are outside right now. BRB.

I had to let the girls in. Minnie was on my lap while they were out. She almost always comes out when they are out. She loves to get in my lap and lick her belly while purring.

Okay, they are ready for bed, so it must be bedtime. lol

Funny faces

Yikes! It's been a while since I updated the Dog Blog. I've been spending a lot of time looking for a part-time job. I had my first interview yesterday. I think it went well. The only problem I could have if offered the job is the dogs. I can't leave them for more than four hours at a time. I thought about installing a doggy door for them. I'd have to block off the kitty door so the cats wouldn't get out while I was gone. I'm not sure how much the doggy door and installation would cost. I'll have to look into that. It would be nice to have a doggy door anyway so I wouldn't have to spend so much time letting the dogs in and out. Of course, I'd have to worry about them getting under the fence while I was gone. Hmmm? Hopefully the hours won't be an issue. I've also applied for a job with savingdinner.com to be an at home Customer Support Representative. That would be a great job because I wouldn't have to leave the dogs at all. The hours would be from 6am to 10am though. I could do that if I needed to do it. I also applied for a job that looks like it has evening and weekend hours. David would be home to take care of the dogs in that case. I'll just have to see what happens with these positions. It will either work out that I can go back to work or it won't work out. I'd like the extra money but we can live without it if we have to. Anyway, the dogs haven't done a whole lot of anything lately. They still sleep a lot. Blitz is in bed already and Huxley is sleeping on the couch. I'm still giving them the Benadryl. They do really well with taking the Benadryl - hardly any licking at all. It really does help their allergies.

David heard from Dyrk that Olie and Genesis have Lyme's Disease. Olie had a seizure tonight. I hope they both will be okay. They are on medication for the LD. Skooter's mom died from complications of a tick bite, so I worry about Olie and Genesis. Speaking of Skooter, I still miss him tremendously. And I miss Moped too. I still think that I made the right choice to give them up, but it doesn't keep me from missing them. Pretty much every night when I get up the pictures of Skooter with his new owner pops up on the laptop. And there's always a cute pic of Moped too. Once in a while I think about changing the screen saver so that it's not Skooter and Moped's pictures reminding me that they are gone. But I just can't change the screen saver.

I do love having Huxley and Blitz here. I don't think I would be happy if they were not here. I enjoy having them steal the covers and hog the bed at night. lol I know David has grown fond of them. He's always calling them into the bedroom when he goes in to take a nap.

We got to visit with Woody last night. He is so well behaved. He didn't do too bad at all with kids ringing the doorbell all night (Halloween).

Here's a picture of Blitz making faces. Isn't it cute? Huxley is trying to hide under David's blanket. They are so goofy.

Snow in October

It snowed yesterday. The dogs didn't seem to mind going out in it though. I haven't been giving them Benadryl lately but they are starting to lick a lot so I'm going to put them back on the Benadryl. They are starting to figure out where to lay in bed at night so I don't have to shove them over every time I get up.

Good Morning

David snapped this photo this morning. A picture IS worth a thousand words.

We all enjoy a good sleep. lol

No internet access at home

I haven't been able to update the Dog Blog lately because I don't have internet access at home right now. It won't be hooked up again until the 24th of October. Yikes! I'm at the library typing this. I'll try to download some pictures soon. I have some cute ones of the girls. Things have been going well with them. Blitz has been whiney, but what's new! I'll try to do some blogging on this site tomorrow when I come back to the library. Adios.

The afternoon nap

Do I even need to say anything? I think not...

Lazy dog and Camo-dog

Here's Blitz laying on the couch. Notice that she's using the folded blanket as a pillow. Spoiled or what?

And here's Huxley playing Camo-dog. Can you see her? lol

Sunday, October 7, 2007

Uh oh!

Huxley peed on the carpet last night! Yep. Peed on the carpet. They both were whining like they saw something outside. They sounded like they would go nuts if I let them out so I didn't. A minute later Huxley caught my attention. She was squatting on the rug, doing her business. Thankfully I was able to get it cleaned up without too much fuss. Poor girl just wanted to go out to go to the bathroom and I wouldn't let her. lol

The cat is outside this morning so the girls are whiney and pacing. They want to go out and get the cat. There's too much of a chance that they will go under the fence, so I'm not letting them out. I'm keeping an eye on Huxley though ;-)

The picture is from our trip to Garden of the Gods last weekend.

Dogs in the rocks

Sunday walk

What a beautiful day today. The temps were in the mid-60's, the sun was shining and there was tons of blue sky. It was a great day to take the dogs for a drive over to Garden of the Gods. We went up to the high parking lot and took them out for a walk on one of the trails. We let them climb on some of the rocks too. Huxley slipped a bit once but she was fine. They are tired out tonight. It was a great adventure for them.

I'll have to add pictures later. Can't seem to upload them on Blogger right now.

Trapped

David and I were sitting in the living room when we heard a strange banging noise At first I thought it was the dryer. Then I realized it was coming from the master bedroom. When I went in there I could hear a cat meowing and the dogs were by the bathroom door. Poor little Minnie had accidentally been locked in the bathroom while we went to the store to get Benadryl for the girls. I closed Huxley and Blitz out of the bedroom and let Minnie out of the bathroom. She was happy to get out of there. I checked the tub and was happy to find that Minnie did not go to the bathroom in the tub.

Autumn

It was a cool, autumn morning so I thought I would take advantage of the weather and get out in the back yard early to clean up after the dogs. Even though it was sunny and cool, I was glad to get that finished. The girls were out in the yard with me. For a few seconds, they were both resting in the grass. I wish the camera had been out there, but it was in the house. I would not have had enough time to get it before they got up. As soon as they would have seen me going for the door, they would have jumped up and followed me. They looked gorgeous sitting in the green grass.Huxley and Blitz did follow me into the house once I was done in the back yard. They headed for the bedroom not too long after coming in the house. I followed them this time. I opened the window on my side of the bed and the fall breeze came rushing in. It was a perfect time for a nap. I didn't think that I would fall asleep but I drifted off quickly. The wind, beating the flag on the pole, woke me occaissionally. In seconds, I was able to sink back into my nap. The dogs slept with us and were kind enough to leave me enough room on the bed and adequate covers to buffet the cool breeze.

A thank you

I received a nice Thank You note from Kris today for the monthly donation I send to the Rescue. I'm glad that I am able to help the Rescue out.

I love my dogs

I met with another Flybaby yesterday for lunch and it turns out that she has a GSP and a Dalmation. The GSP is just a pup. (Good luck with that! lol). I told her our story about Skooter and Moped. And then how we aquired Huxley and Blitz. I emailed her and asked her to send me some pictures of her dogs if she's able to. I'd love to add them to the Dog Blog.

It's a bit after 2am and I'm up but the dogs are in bed sound asleep (sound familiar). They didn't get me up so I'm not mad at them or anything. Just feeling somewhat envious that they sleep as much as they do. But I'm not going to complain about dogs that sleep through the night (or at least not that much anyway).

The cats have been spending most of their time in the office or in the hallway. Paulie is the only one who doesn't come out into the hallway and just lay in front of the dogs. But he's a 'guy' so I'm sure that makes sense somehow. lol I'm glad to see them out more though and not sleeping under my bed. At least I feel like they have a life now. And thankfully the litter box hasn't been an issue at all lately. I am so happy about that. Huxley still peeks her nose in the kitty door but someone usually gives her what for and she retreats. Paulie whacked out Blitz the other day and made her jump back. It was kind of funny.

I'm still trying to figure out a regular schedule for the dog and cat food. Mostly I just order it when I need it. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to how often I have to order.

It's 2:15am so I better go join my dogs (and my hubby) in bed. Hopefully they all haven't conspired to take all of my covers. :-)

A man and his dogs

Blitzie likes making herself comfortable on the couch. She loves to cuddle in the fleece blankets. She's such a spoiled dog.

These girls sure do love their Daddy. Huxley has herself between his legs. She's staring at one of the cats.

Cheese equals benadryl

A funny thing happened earlier. I was shaking the bottle of parmesan/asiago cheese for pasta and the dogs thought it was their benadryl bottle that I was shaking. They got all happy. I had to break their little hearts since it wasn't benadryl time.

Catching Rays

The girls enjoyed the sun on the deck this afternoon.

Whiney butt

Blitz has been whiney today. She's asked to go out at least a dozen times and then comes back in after a few minutes. Maybe it's the change in the weather that's got her wanting to go out more. It's not so hot out. She might be enjoying spending her time on the deck in the sun. Huxley is rolling around on the floor and shaking the bugs out. lol They are ready for bed. We finally had to put the comforter back on the bed. I think the dogs will like sleeping on that. The sheet alone tends to be cool and they want warmth. They are figuring out that I'm going out every morning for a walk. I want to start taking them with me, but I don't look forward to my arm being pulled out of the socket. I guess I could look into getting them harnesses. That might help them not to pull as much. I know they would enjoy going for a walk every day. I need to just start taking them with me. They aren't getting out at all lately: no doggie day care, no rides in the car. All they do is go out in the back yard. I need to change that. They are going to be seriously bored soon. I don't know how things will go in the winter time. There are lots of days that are nice here in the winter time, so I could get them out walking enough. Okay so off to bed we go.

I miss my boys

I sent an email to Kris asking about Skooter and Moped. I asked if she has heard anything recently about them. Also wanted to know if she's received any pictures. I'd sure like to know what Moped is looking like these days. I still miss them terribly. Some days I think I did the wrong thing, giving them up. I think it will haunt me forever.

Just thought you should know...

My dogs are lazy!

Really lazy!

On Daddy's lap

David got Huxley up in his lap. She was a bit nervous but stayed up there for a few minutes.

Isn't she cute? Adorable, really. :-)

Whiners

Huxley is doing better today. She has hardly been limping at all. I let them out earlier because they were whining and they took off out into the yard after something. Huxley and Blitz tried to get under the fence again. I had to stay out there with them to keep them in the yard. They were whining really loud too. I'm not sure what they saw but they seemed pretty interested in it. Blitz has been whiney all day today. She's getting to the point where it's annoying me. Hopefully she'll settle down and stop whining for a while.

Hoppin' Huxley

Last night Huxley hurt her left, front leg. I think she did it by jumping off the bed. She was hopping around for about 24 hours. She's doing better now, but still favoring that leg. I'm going to keep an eye on her and if it gets worse I'll call Dr. G. I knew it was really bothering her today because Blitz wanted to play with her and she didn't want to play. She always plays when Blitz wants to play. I'm glad she's getting better quickly though. I have been really worried about her since she started limping.

It was rainy out today so the girls didn't spend much time outdoors. I wonder how they are going to react to winter time and the snow?

Getting out of the yard

Well, the dogs finally got out of the yard. They went under the fence chasing after something. They ran around the neighborhood for a couple minutes. I drove around looking for them but didn't see them until I was pulling into the driveway. I yelled to Blitz and she and Huxley followed me into the garage. They were happy, happy, happy after getting to run around. I wish I could let them out on a regular basis to run around. They are still doing well with the benadryl. Huxley hardly ever licks her paw anymore. We took a nap with them today. They love that. They are ready for bed now. What's new?!

By the way, David fixed the fence that day so they haven't been out of the yard since. I do worry about them getting out, but if they do I know they will come home.

Beastie boy

Lisa and I talked today about Skooter and Moped. I told her that I still miss them and sometimes wish I could get another puppy that has their colors (bright white and liver). Huxley and Blitz are great, but I miss the looks of Skooter and Moped. But I wouldn't want to have dogs again that have to be in their kennel all the time or be tied up. I don't know that I could get another GSP puppy and expect anything but a high energy beastie boy.

Doin' fine

David's been home on vacation this week so I haven't been blogging as much. I've also had other things to attend to that have taken up laptop time. Anyway, the girls are doing fine. I'm still giving them two benadryl two times a day. Huxley is licking her right paw less and less. Blitz has been a bit whiney this week but I think it's because she's getting so much attention from both of us. She's getting spoiled (or should I say 'more spoiled' lol). She's on the couch right now. Huxley went to bed. I was over at Woody's house today. He heard a siren and started howling. It was soooooo cute. I wish that I would have had my camera so I could have made a video of it. Hopefully I'll have another chance to get him on video. He spent a lot of time looking cute, laying on his back with legs up in the air. He's a great dog.

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Now Tabby is getting to be brave with the dogs. She's coming out into the living room more and also spends time up in the window in the bedroom. The dogs go right up to her. She gets a bit uncomfortable when Blitz sticks her nose in Tabby's face, but she hasn't been backing down.

The girls are doing much better now that they have been on the Benadryl for a few days. Huxley isn't licking her paw near as much as she was. I'm glad to see that they are responding so well.

The other night we had the master bedroom torn apart (David is painting) and so I had to sleep in the guest room with Huxley and Blitz. David slept on the floor in the master bedroom. There was just enough room on the guest bed for me and Huxley and Blitz. Spoiled rotten dogs.! LOL We were all happy to sleep in our bed last night - together! The girls really seemed to miss sleeping on the bed. It's so comfy and I think they know that.

Anyway, David is on vacation all week and the dogs are enjoying having him home. I might put them in doggie day care on Friday to give us a day to go out and do whatever we want to do. They would enjoy that.

I got to visit with Woody last night. We were over at Lisa's for a Labor Day BBQ. I'm hoping to get Woody over for another play date sometime soon. While we were at Lisa's we tried out their Wii entertainment system (pool and tennis). Wow! Was it fun. I would love to be able to get one for our house. I'll have to start saving up for one. The dogs will probably get a hoot out of seeing me play in the living room. They'll wonder what the heck is up. LOL

The goobers are laying on the floor right now, side by side. It must be afternoon nap time. Think I will join them.

On point

One of the cats pooped in the office again. ~sigh~ I've pushed the printer stand all the way back to the wall so whoever it is won't be able to get back there. I've also moved the kitty litter box over to that corner. We'll see what happens.

Minnie is getting braver every day. She came all the way out to my chair tonight. She ran when the dogs got up. Huxley was pointing at her earlier and Minnie just sat there.

Huxley and Blitz are of course in bed. I think the Benadryl makes them sleepy.

Earlier the girls were out in the yard watching our neighbor. Then her cat came into her yard and the dogs went nuts. They love watching the cats in the neighborhood. It took me a few minutes to get them to come in the house. Now they are settled in. Time for me to do the same.

Good golly, Miss Molly!

Things were going good until today. Not with the dogs, but with the cats. I went in and changed their litter box. Even after I changed it the room still didn't smell good. Then it dawned on me: one of the cats had gone to the bathroom somewhere other than the litter box. Yep, behind my printer stand. Gee-ross! I cleaned it all up and wondered who the culprit is. I sprayed the area around the printer stand with Fooey (a very stinky smell). No one has gone to the bathroom behind the printer stand today. Yahoo! I'm definitely going to have to keep an eye on this problem though because I don't want it getting to be a habit (like using the tub *eyes roll*).

On the dog front, I've been giving the girls their Benadryl and it seems to be helping. They don't seem to get too tired from taking it which is good. They've been in bed all night and I've been up with insomnia. Rackin' frackin' dogs! :-) Maybe it's because we took a nap today. I don't know. Anyway, the dogs are doing well. Still chasing the cats some but not near as much as they used to. They are happy to get their medicine twice a day because I give it to them mixed with can dog food (just a teaspoon full). It makes it very easy to give them the Benadryl.

David is on vacation for the next 10 days so hopefully we'll be able to take the dogs for walks in the morning. They'd really enjoy that. They are still pulling but not quite as bad as they used to. That means they won't be in doggie day care for a while. They didn't go last Friday because I was home most of the day. And I'll probably be home for the next two Fridays too since David is on vacation. I might put them in one day just to give them a fun day. We'll see.

Allergies

I've given Huxley and Blitz their benadryl today. It will probably take a while for it to work. They are both still licking. We all got to take a nap this afternoon. The girls really enjoy that. Huxley is in bed already. Blitz is on the couch.

I was thinking about Skooter and Moped today. I sure do miss them and wonder how they are doing. We haven't heard about Moped for a while. I'm glad we have the pictures they sent of Skooter. He's such a handsome boy. I wish I would have been able to keep him. Whenever I see a dog with markings and colors like Skooter and Moped, I get a bit sad. As crazy as it sounds, I'd like to get a puppy again some day. Not anytime soon, but someday.

I was wondering if anyone else has dogs with allergies. What do you do to keep the allergies at bay? Do your dogs lick themselves raw? I'd sure appreciate any info anyone has on dog's with allergies.

The vet visited today

Today Dr. G. came to the house to give the cats their shots. While he was here I asked him to look at Huxley's right leg. I thought that maybe it was arthritis, but it turns out that she's been licking above the joint, not on it. Dr. G. says that because of that he surmises that she is dealing with an allergy. He told me to give here 2 benadryl 2 times a day, then go to 2 one time a day and then 1 one time a day. I gave her two this evening. She's sleeping right now. Is it the benedryl or is she just lazy? lol I'm having to stop her from licking her leg. I need to put some neosporin on where she had licked it almost raw. I'll probably have to put a bandage on it too so she won't lick the neosporin off. I know that MY allergies are acting up, so I'm sure the dogs are being affected too. Hopefully the benedryl will help Huxley. I may give some to Blitz too because she licks her back a lot. She might also have allergies. Well, it's time to drag myself to bed. I know the girls are ready for bed (as they always are lol) so we'll head there.

Running me ragged

As you can see, the dogs have been running me ragged.

Or is it the other way around?

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

9 Inch Nails

It's quite warm out today (the lower 90's) so the dogs have mostly been laying around. Even though the house has A/C, they still seem to conserve energy on warm days. I'm going to take them to Doggie Day Care Friday. While they are there I'm going to ask that they get a bath and their nails clipped as much as possible. Their nails are really long.

They were longer when we got them in April. I've had them clipped once or twice since then. I would do it myself but I'm not sure how short I can clip them. They are very hard to clip too. Hopefully I can get it done at DDC. If not, I'll bring them over to PetCo for a nail trim.

Little Miss Brave Butt

Check out Little Miss Brave Butt (Minnie). She's sitting right in the living room with Blitz. She got up in the window too but Blitz was out of her mind and went to check Minnie out. I'm glad to see Minnie coming out so much.
The girls are laying down. The cats are out of sight. Think I'll take a nap.

Sleep interruption

I went to bed a bit after 9pm tonight. And here it is about 11:15pm and I'm up because Blitz wouldn't stop whining. I let them out and then back in and went to bed. Huxley jumped up on the bed, but Blitz just sat at the foot of the bed whining. She wouldn't come up on the bed. So I just let them out again. Blitz is at the door but I'm going to make her wait a few minutes before I let her in. I can't have her waking me up at night. They go out just before we go to bed so they should't need to go out until morning. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I should probably ignore her whining and not let them out during the night.

The dogs are still chasing the cats although not quite as much as they were.

The girls were just barking outside so I had to go let them in. They are just full of it tonight.

Anyway, the situation with the cats and dogs is better but still not great. I can't remember if I mentioned this before but one of the cats pooped in our closet. I think they felt trapped in there by the dogs. So I now I have to make sure the closet door is always closed. I really don't like how all the rooms are closed up but I like cleaning out the tub even less.

Blitz has layed down on my blanket that was on the floor. She moved it over and made her nest in it. Then she plopped down. Huxley went to bed. Which is where I should be going.

Day at Doggie Day Care

I took the girls over to Doggie Day Care at about 8am. I picked them up around 3:30pm. They were so excited to see me. They are completely beat though. They've been doing a lot of laying around since they came home. Tom said they played a lot today. I'm tired too from being out all day. We'll probably all go to bed early tonight. Huxley is not limping at all. That's good. She may get sore once she settles down for a while. I think they want to go to bed now (6pm)! Oops! Huxley is limping now. I think it's good for her to get out though and keep the joints moving. Another storm is coming in this evening. Blitz doesn't like the thunder. So far it hasn't been too bad.

Buster Cube

I put some more Pupperoni in the Buster Cube. Huxley loves playing with it. Blitz doesn't get it completely. She knows treats fall out of it and she sort of knows to push it, but she just doesn't get that it's a toy to play with. As long as she seems to enjoy it somewhat, I'm happy. Huxley is still playing with it. She loves the Buster Cube.

Pancakes

Minnie came out into the living room yesterday while the dogs were out here and she got up on my lap! :-0 The dogs were napping. When they woke up they came over and checked out Minnie. She didn't like being checked out so she ran into the bedroom. It's a major deal that she came out into the living room and got on my lap with the dogs out here.

The girls have been doing better sleeping through the night. If only I could say the same for me. lol Tomorrow I'm taking them to Doggie Day Care while I go to Compassion to volunteer and then over to Lisa's for scones (yummmmy!). They'll be tired out by the time they get home. I'm sure Huxley's bones will be sore again. But I know they will have tons of fun at Preppy Pet. Tom is very good with them.

This has nothing to do with dogs but it's wicked funny. Kitty sent it to me.

What I have to put up with every day

This is what I have to put up with every day with these dang dogs. How much energy do they think I have? lol The are the laziest dogs on the planet. Does look kind of comfy though. ;-) Maybe it's time for my nap...

Lightbulb eyes

It's been a good day with the dogs. I put them out on the timer and I let them stay out for the whole time. Occaisionally I forgot to time them and let them in too soon, but when I didn't forget it was a nice change from the in/out in 5 seconds routine. Minnie has really been brave today coming out into the living room even though she knows the dogs are there. She's in the hallway right now and the girls are looking at her. Minnie is the one with the lightbulbs in her eyes lol.
And I couldn't resist this picture of Huxley. I was in the office (where the cat's stuff is) and Huxley poked her nose through the kitty door. I thought it was cute (doesn't help with having them keep their noses out of the kitty door though ~oops~)

I am in charge

I only woke up once last night (at 2am). I didn't let the dogs out. I made them go back to bed. When David's alarm went off at 4:30am, I stayed in bed today. I didn't let the dogs out. Both times I was able to get back to sleep without any problem. I got up for the day at 7am. That's when I let the dogs out. (Who let the dogs out? Oh, that would be me. lol) They've already been out a couple of times this morning. I realize that I need to stop doing what they ask me to do (let me out, let me in, etc.) and do what I want to do. I'm up and down all day because they are constantly in and out. I'm going to start using my timer when I let them out. I'll keep them out for 15 minutes, then I'll let them in (even if Huxley spends most of the time banging on the sliding door with her paw!) And I won't let them out every half hour either. They are running the show and I can no longer allow that. They are laying down right now after a bit of a play. Of course, as soon as I typed that, they got up and went to the door to check something out. Even if they want to go out, I'm not going to let them go until I'm ready to let them out. Then I'll time them. They need more of a routine (just like me).
Aren't they curious little doggies (uh, okay, nosey lol). They are always looking for the cat or rabbits.

Minnie

Minnie came all the way out into the living room earlier. She was about five feet from Huxley and about 10 feet from Blitz. She's getting very brave.

Here she is getting ready for a trip. LOL

Still pooped

The dogs are still pooped out from yesterday. Huxley is limping a bit. That's normal for her. I'm sure they'll take it easy most of the day today. They slept all over David last night. Blitz was on one side and Huxley was on the other side. They had him pinned down. Poor guy. He didn't sleep very well. Huxley is in on the bed and Blitz is out here in the living room whining. They haven't gone off the deck this morning because we had quite a rain last night and the grass is all wet. I don't know what they are going to do when the snow comes. It'll be interesting. David was giving Blitz some tentions and Huxley came out to get some. She's laying down in the sun now. I'm sure that feels good on her aching bones. They are good girls.

Birthday Dinner

Here they are sharing their Birthday Dinner (filet mignon flavored dog food). They really enjoyed it.

Happy Birthday, Girls!

Here's a picture of the girls, once they got home, playing with their Buster Cube. I put some Pupperoni in it for them. Notice how Blitz has learned to pick it up. Huxley does that all the time.

They've had a great birthday and it's not over yet. I got them some can food to mix in with their dry food for a birthday treat. I'm sure they'll love that. They are finally settling down from their day. Once they settle down I'll feed them.

While the dogs are away, the cats will play

This is what the cats do while the dogs are away.

They lay on the dogs bed. I won't tell if you don't. ;-)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Huxley and Blitz!!!

Today Huxley and Blitz are 7 years old. For their birthday I brought them to Doggy Day Care for the day. Tom was glad to see them and they seemed to remember Tom and the Day Care. They were happy and smiling when I left. I don't have to pick them up until 6:30 p.m. I think I might get them some canned food for their birthdays. The cats are enjoying having the dogs out for the day. They've been out in the living room and sitting on our laps. I miss the dogs though. This shows me that keeping them is the right thing to do.

I miss Skooter and Moped

David and the dogs are taking a nap. I joined them at first but couldn't fall asleep so I got up. We went in to lay down because it was pouring rain out for a while. Blitz was bothered by the weather (loud thunder) so we went in to take a nap. The cats are doing great using the kitty door and the dogs and cats seem to be getting on rather well today. I'm really glad to have the dogs for companionship. They make coming home fun. They get so excited when I get back from being out. It always makes me smile. They are up now. They'll probably need to go out soon. It's still very wet outside from the storm. I hope they don't get muddy paws. I need to go get walking collars or harnesses for them. I think it would be easier to walk them if I had the right collar/harness. I need to have more control over them.

I miss Skooter and Moped a lot today. I wish we would hear some new information on them. I still cry about giving them up. But I'm happy that they have great homes now. When I see the pictures of Skooter with his new dad, I always smile. But it's a bittersweet smile. I wish I could have made it work with Skoots and Mopes. But it wasn't meant to be. I think that's why I'm trying so hard with Huxley and Blitz. I don't want to give up on them. Not that I gave up on Skooter and Moped. I tried really hard to make it work with them. I did all kinds of training and I wanted to make it work. David really misses Skooter laying in his lap. I miss their soft, white fur and their fuzzy faces. I'd still love to see them again one day.

I didn't get to clean the yard today because of the weather. So I'll have double duty (no pun intended) tomorrow. :-)

Bingo!

All of the cats are using the kitty door now and also using the litter box! Woohoo! The dogs are kept from the litter box and the cats' food. The cats are spending more time in the hallway now. The dogs are doing better at not chasing the cats. I feel so much better that it's working out a bit. The dogs are still sleeping with us at night. We all seem to have enough room. They don't wake me up anymore. I'm usually waking them up. They are napping in the dining room right now. I still need help with the dogs though. I really want to be able to walk them without them pulling. But I can't complain because I haven't had to clean up the tub after the cats in days. I still have that door closed all the time. Time to go out and clean up the yard.

The kitty door

When I got home from Home Fellowship this afternoon, David had the dogs outside so the cats could go into the kitty door without being stressed. Both Paulie and Tabby went into the kitty door when I got home. I actually saw them do it. Yahoo! David said that all three of them went in the kitty door while I was out. Tabby had gone into the laundry room, behind the washer and was staying in there. So, I got her out of there and closed that door too. I don't want them to have any place but the bedroom or office to escape to. I let Blitz and Huxley in. It's 83 degrees outside. Too hot for them to be out there too long. They are happy to be inside. Tabby is coming down the hall and going to the kitty door. I'm waiting for her to go in. There she goes. Oops, Blitz scared her away. All she did was get up. I think Tabby gets it though that they have to go in the office to eat and go to the bathroom. We'll see how it goes today.

Hmmm...

I don't know how this kitty door thing is going to work. The dogs are keeping the cats from going into the litter room. I haven't seen anyone go to the bathroom on the carpet. I'm grateful for that. Tabby is in the laundry room behind the washer. I can't get her to come out from behind there. Minnie and Paulie are in our bedroom. I've got to get them to use the litter box and go into that room. Huxley and Blitz are laying on the floor in the living room. Waiting for a cat sighting. I don't know how to train the cats to do what I want them to do. I guess if I can get the dogs to leave the cats alone they would go into the litter room. I really hope this works out. I think Paulie just went into the litter room on his own. Minnie and Tabby are the problem. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Treats

Paulie has been using the door over and over again. Minnie came down the hallway and checked it out again too. Tabby is the only one who hasn't come back to the kitty door yet.

David just gave the girls a treat - a milk bone and a piece of banana. They loved it. We've been working with Huxley on her not taking Blitz's treats. Blitz doesn't usually eat her treat right away. She waits for Huxley to eat her own treat and then starts in on hers. But Huxley will try to take it before Blitz can get it. I've been letting Huxley sit there and wait while Blitz finishes her treat.

Success!

Paulie has already used the kitty door to get in to the kiitty litter box. One down. Two to go.

I just put Tabby and Minnie into the office separately and had them go out the kitty door. They both did it. I don't know that they know that their litter box, food and water is in there because they came out rather quickly.

Closing the bathroom doors give the cats two less places to run to. Hopefully they will escape into the kitty door if the dogs go after them. Basically they can run into our bedroom or the guest bedroom and get under the beds. They are going to have to deal with each other now. I'll have to work with the dogs to not go after the cats. I'm sure Kris can help with that too.

New Kitty Door

Here are a couple of pictures of the new kitty door.

Kitty Door Installed!

David put in a kitty door in the office door so just the cats can get in and out. I have their litter box in there and also their food and water. So that means that the dogs can't get to the kitty litter or food. That is great. Now I just need to get the cats to use the kitty door. Once they are out of the bathroom, I'm going to close the door and pray that they won't go to the bathroom on the carpet. The dogs have already checked out the kitty door. They can barely get their nose in there. That's exactly what I need. Getting the cats to use the door will be interesting. I think I'm going to put them all in the office and let them work their way out through the kitty door. They have their litter box, food and water in there, so they will be fine. Getting them in there is the problem. The are all under the bed right now. I'm going to go down and close the door to David's bathroom and my bathroom to keep them and their fur out of the their for good. They can always go under the bed if they can't get in the kitty door if the dogs are after them. I feel hopeful right now that things can work out.

I'm batty

David does think I'm batty! LOL I keep taking him on this roller coaster ride with the dogs. I can't help it. I get to a point where I feel like I can't handle everything and I can't think of any alternatives, so I think that surrendering the dogs is the answer. The only problem is that the question is "how do I get the cats to stop doing their business in the tub?". Surrendering the dogs doesn't solve the problem with the cats. Yes, the cats might settle down if the dogs were gone, but I don't want to lose these girls. I'm anxious to have Kris come up and help me out. If I can get the girls under control (meaning: I have to stop letting them get away with everything) then the cats might not be such an issue. Which reminds me - I need to go check the tub again. I'm sure the cats have used it tonight. I am tired of having to do this, but again, surrendering the dogs doesn't automatically fix the problem.

Kris said she's going to look into a kitty door (like a doggy door) for the cats. They could then get in the room and not have the dogs come after them. I'm not sure how the cats would do with it. The gate worked for a while, but the dogs eventually jumped the gate. They wouldn't be able to get through a kitty door. I want to close the bathroom doors, but I'm afraid the cats will go on the carpet. That would be horrible. I've just got to figure out how to get the cats back to the box. Having a kitty door would also solve the problem of the dogs getting into the kitty litter box. They really need to stop doing that.

Back to the girls though. I've really started to depend on them for companionship. I really look forward to coming home because they are so happy to see me. I also would like to continue play dates with Woody so they are better socialized. Right now they are play fighting, getting some energy out. I've got to start walking them every day or they will keep up the playing in the house. Not that I mind it, but it gets a little out of hand sometimes. I'm just glad to see them playing at their age. Which reminds me, this month (August) we celebrate their birthdays. They will be 7 years old. Maybe I'll buy them a Tug A Jug for their birthday. They didn't show much interest in the Buster Cube, but the Tug A Jug is different. They'll really have to use their brains to get the treats out of the Tug A Jug.

David just called them 'his girls'. I guess he's attached to them too. He really enjoys them greeting him at the door when he gets home from work each day. They are always happy to see me when I come in the house. Like today. I did some volunteer work at Compassion International and was gone for 4 1/2 hours. The girls didn't get into anything and they were able to wait until I got home to go out. I'd like to volunteer when I'm able to and knowing that they can do fine for hours is a great help and would allow me to do the volumteer work. I've also been invited to the Tuesday morning Coffee at the clubhouse. It wouldn't be that long and I'd be close to home so that might work out too.

Kris has 20 dogs down at the Rescue right now and is expecting three more this weekend. I can't imagine how much work that has to be for her and her daughter. She told me that the summer is like that, but as soon as families come back from vacations and kids get back to school, there will be more adoptions. I'll be praying for her and the dogs. I hope all of them get good homes. Kris thanked me for the last donation. I told her that I was happy to be able to support her and the Rescue. I'll send another donation here soon (for August).

The girls just heard a sound and started running around and barking. I sprayed them and they stopped right away. They are laying down over by David now. I'm surprised that they haven't headed to bed yet. Maybe they are waiting for me. I might actually have some room on the bed tonight. LOL

I was going to ask Kris if she'd heard anything about Skooter or Moped but I forgot to. We did talk about getting the girls to walk better on a leash. She thinks that can be taken care of fairly quickly. The cat situation might take longer. I'd be happy if I could walk them without them pulling my shoulder out of the socket. I'm sure that Kris will be a real help with getting them to walk in a more controlled way. She feels that they are bored and that's why they are chasing the cats. I'm sure they are bored. I need to dedicate myself to getting them out consistently. I should try to get them into Doggy Day Care too. If I can send them their even just once every other week, they wouldn't be so bored. They are very good there about playing with the dogs. And again, it would be good socialization for them (with people and dogs).

If I move even the slightest, Huxley and Blitz run to the bedroom. They know it's bedtime. They've moved over to their bed on the floor next to me. They are definitely waiting to go to bed. I'll let them out one more time and then go to bed. That reminds me, I also need to get them out of the habit of getting up in the middle of the night. That's my fault because I have to get up at least twice during the night. Sometimes they stay in bed but usually they get up with me. If they don't get up initially they usually jump out of bed when I flush the toilet. Don't ask me why. I don't know why they do that. And when David's alarm goes off in the morning (at 4:30am!) the dogs always jump out of bed and head for the back door. They are definitely Pavlov dogs. LOL

Okay, time for bed.

Oh my gosh!

Well, I've changed my mind again. I want to keep the dogs. I know I would be lost without them. I can't do that to me or to them. They are happy here with us. Spoiled and happy. They are my girls.

I just spoke to Kris and I told her that I was feeling wishy-washy again about surrendering Huxley and Blitz. She has offered to come up here to help me out with the dogs. And as it turns out she doesn't have room for them right now anyway. She has 20 dogs at this time. And three more are coming in this weekend. I told her that I really want to make this work. That if I could take care of the cat problem keeping them wouldn't be an issue. The cats are the one's who are misbehaving, not the dogs. The dogs just need more consistent exercise. I've also figured out how to take care of the back yard more consistently and get it done in less than 15 minutes. It's the cats I don't want to clean up after! So, Kris is going to call me back next week and set up a time that she and her daughter can come up to help train me and the dogs. :-)

David is going to think I'm batty always changing my mind about keeping or surrendering the dogs. I just don't think they would get adopted together and I can't imagine one being without the other.

One of the issues Lisa brought up is that it will be even more difficult to get them exercise in the winter. If I can get on a schedule with them now, that will carry over to winter, then they would be okay.

If we can just get things worked out with the cats. Dag nabbit! Also, I can't think of ending the Dog Blog. I want to continue blogging about the girls and Skooter and Moped for as long as I can.

Well, I'm a fruitcake. That's for sure. I need to turn things around here and make sure I'm in charge, not them. It'll take some work, but it will be worth it. I love my girls.

Letting Woody Out

Lisa and family went out to dinner tonight and I had the pleasure of going over to let Woody out to do his business. He was extremely cooperative. We played for about 15 minutes. I had him sit and lay down for treats. He's such a smart boy. When I brought him in he looked longingly at his kennel like he was ready to go to bed. He was good and waited upstairs while I left out the garage.

When I got home the girls were ready for bed. They went to bed about 40 minutes ago. They are so lazy. As usual, there won't be any room for me on the bed so I'll have to call them off the bed so I can get in the bed.

Emotional roller coaster

The dogs didn't wake me up. I woke up on my own. When I got out of bed though they came running for the back door. They went out and came back in. Huxley did her automatic sit for a treat. Blitz sat too when she saw what Huxley was doing. They're back in bed now.

Today was an emotional day because of the dogs. I always flip-flop on bringing them to the Rescue. I think about surrendering them and I can't believe that I'll be without them forever. But at the same time I feel like surrendering them is the best thing for me and for them. I'm really not able to take care of two GSP's, even lazy ones. I know I'll cry when we bring them down there. And I'll miss them greatly for a while. Then life will settle in again and I'll be okay without any of my dogs. I'll never stop missing them on some level and I'm sure I'll tear up once in a while because they are in different homes. I pray that Huxley and Blitz get adopted together. They would be lost without each other. (~tears~) I'd rather keep them than have them separated. It would break my heart and theirs if they were separated. I can't even think about it any more. It's too painful to consider.

I think a lot about finding homes for the cats, but no one is going to be interested in a 15 year old Tabby. And I don't know that I'd want Paulie and Minnie separated. They've been together since birth. They are about 7 years old now.

This is such an incredible struggle for me. I wish I could have a perfect life where the dogs and cats could co-exist. And the cats used their litter box! LOL But, like everyone else, I have an imperfect life, a life I am so happy to have. I wish I weren't so wishy-washy about surrendering the dogs, but when you love an aminal like I love them, their are going to be painful emotions and tears. My life will be lonely without them. I will miss having them sleep with us at night. I will miss letting them out in the morning. I'll miss them play fighting. I'll miss their Wookie sounds. They have become ingrained in my life. It will be difficult to not have them here.

I haven't heard from Kris yet so I don't know if we'll be bringing them down to the Rescue this weekend. It's difficult having them knowing that soon they will be gone. If only they'd leave the cats alone. If only the cats would stop using the tub as a litter box. Oh, well.

This is an emotional roller coaster that I'm on. I'm up and down constantly with my decision to surrender them. But I know that I feel, the majority of the time, that surrendering them is what's best for me and them. I will miss them but not a lot of things that they do. Don't get me wrong. These are really good dogs, well behaved, gentle and friendly. But they chase things, especially cats. They are determined to not walk on a leash without pulling. And then there is always the issue of the back yard (pooper scooper at your service LOL). And I'm still not giving them enough exercise outside of the house. Even though they are lazy, they still need to be exercised and I am not faithful to doing that.

This is the same way I felt about Skooter and Moped. I love them dearly but I just couldn't handle having them. They weren't living a wonderful life here with us. They deserved better. And now they have better. I want the same thing for Huxley and Blitz - a better life. And I definitely need to reduce the stress I am feeling over the cat situation.

Well, I guess I should head back to bed. I'm sure the dogs have taken over my side. Blitz is probably up on my pillow, silly girl. Guess I'll just have to shove her over again like I usually do.

Lazy or Mopey

The dogs were lazy today. I interpreted it as mopey. I think they sense the change coming. Or maybe it's just me (more than likely). I haven't had a good day today and I think I'm tranferring my feelings onto the dogs. They're okay now. They just finished playing together. They are sitting under my legs. I'm sure they are just fine. They don't think or feel the way we do. I need to stop attaching feelings to them that they are just not capable of. I'm the sad one. I'm the mopey one. Not them. Oh well, they will be gone soon and I can grieve and then get on with my life. I just wish Blitz didn't have such sad eyes.

New Pictures

This is the picture of Blitz sitting on my lap.

And here's a picture of Huxley smiling.

Giving up the girls :-(

I sent this email to Kris today:

"We've come to an impasse with the dogs and cats. The cats are acting out now. They are afraid to go in their litter box for fear of being attacked. So they now are using my tub as a litter box. I even tried putting their litter box in the tub, but they are afraid of the box now. I know that you have a lot of dogs at the Rescue right now and adding two more would make it more stressful, but I just can't keep living with things this way. I am spending too much of my time picking up after the pets. I thought I could help out by fostering Huxley and Blitz, but I'm just not at a point in my life where I can dedicate so much time to pets. I really wanted to keep Huxley and Blitz until you found a home for them so they didn't have to go down to the Rescue and make more work for you, but we will need to bring them down there when it is convenient for you (maybe this coming weekend?). I apologize for any inconvenience I have caused and I want you to know that I really meant well."

I feel disappointed and sad that things have worked out this way. I know that bringing the girls down to the Rescue will be stressful for them and for Kris. But I'm getting too stressed out cleaning up after pets all day long. I don't know how I'm going to get the cats to use their litter box again. The last thing I want is for them to go to the bathroom on the carpet. I plan on closing the doors to every room but the one that has their litter box in it. I hope that they will realize that the dogs are gone and it's safe to go back into the litter box again.

I certainly will miss Huxley and Blitz. I do love them. I'm just not able to keep up with them and the cats.

I just had to go outside to check something on the BBQ grill for David. On my way out I saw that one of the dogs (probably Huxley) pooped on the deck (does that make it a poop deck LOL). Even more cleaning up. I have to spend a lot of time on the yard already. I don't want to have to clean up the deck too. The yard is going to smell really bad if this keeps up.

I realize that I'm not getting stuff done in the house because I'm feeling so overwhelmed by the pets. I know my day will always start with having to clean out the tub. And then sometime during the day, after the grass dries, I have to pick up the back yard. And there's the actual kitty litter box too that needs to be managed Paulie still uses it). It's not that any of this takes long but it's just making more work for me overall. I feel defeated before I even start my day. Hopefully Kris will be able to take Huxley and Blitz into the Rescue by the weekend. I'll miss them. Then I'll have to build a strategy for getting the cats to use the litter box again.

~Sigh!~

What should I do?

Here it is the middle of the night again and I'm up typing in the Dog Blog. Lately it's been more of a Cat Blog than a Dog Blog. And that's no exception tonight. In addition to using the whirlpool tub in David's bathroom to do their business, the cats are now using my tub in my bathroom. I am at my limit with this. My house smells like a zoo. Tonight I'm seriously considering finding homes for all the cats, as well as the dogs. Having them is causing me stress that I don't want or need. Paulie is sitting out here in the living room with me right now. The dogs are in bed. What should I do? It's really the cats that are the problem. Would they even find a home for Tabby? She's going on 16 years old. And Paulie and Minnie are seven and a half years old now. Could I really give up my cats? I guess if I could give up Skooter and Moped, then I could give up the cats.

Blitz sat in my lap yesterday. She just crawled up and made herself at home. She's not exactly a lap dog, you know. :-) All of us were lazy yesterday. The girls slept most of the day. They seemed to need the down time because of their busy lifestyles. ;-)

Huxley and Blitz are doing a great job of sitting when they come in the door from the back yard. I usually have to tell Blitz to sit, but she does it now. I give them a treat if they sit (pupperroni). It's a soft treat. The bones I was giving them before were too hard on their teeth and gums. Let me tell you, large Meaty Bones are like a block of cement. Not good.

I'm going to have to talk to David about the cats and dogs. I know he'll be okay with me doing whatever will be best for me and my stress level. I just don't know about finding homes for my cats, especially our old girl. But the cats are more of a problem than the dogs at this point! I don't know that I'll ever break them of the habit of going to the bathroom in the tub. I don't know that they'll ever feel safe in their kitty litter box.

This situation with the animals is deteriorating rapidly. And the more it deteriorates, the more stress I feel. And cleaning out that whirlpool tub 2-3 times a day is not good for my back. I've been straining my back to clean it out every day.

Minnie and Tabby are the guilty ones. Paulie still uses the litter box, which the dogs keep trying to get into. Gee-ross! Oh gosh, what am I going to do? What can I do? I just want a regular house that smells nice LOL Is that too much to ask for? Why me? Why now? Why am I droning on endlessly about this? ;-)

When I think about the girls going down to the Rescue I feel bothered. They are now spoiled, indoor dogs. Down there, they would have to be outdoor dogs for the most part. I know that Kris would bring them in once in a while, but mostly they'd be outdoors (they would be in the dog kennel at night though). I thought that it would be great to help the dogs out, but I'm just in no postion to have the dogs.

Anyway, blah, blah, blah. I did take some new pictures of the girls but I haven't downloaded them yet. I'll do that later today.

Nice evening for a walk

We just took the girls for a walk. They both did okay. They are still pulling quite a bit but they mostly stayed beside us. They were looking for ra-ra-ra-rabbits the whole time. We took them on separate leashes. David took Huxley and I took Blitz. We didn't go for a very long walk only because it's hard to walk them on regular collars. I think I'll pick up harnesses for them so we can walk them without so much pulling on their necks. I think they really enjoyed their walk tonight because they were better behaved. I realized though, that there is no way I could walk both of them at the same time. So it's either taking them individually or both of us taking them. It's nine o'clock and they have gone to bed. They must have quite the internal clock. Better than mine anyway. :-)

One day we'll get that...

Mish mash

The girls have been quite playful lately. They play with each other all the time now and when they can they play with us. They are still going after the cats though. The cats have been coming out more than they used to and they walk down the hallway while the dogs are staring them down. LOL I think the girls went back to bed though. I had a blanket on the floor near the laundry basket last night (it needs to be washed) and during the night Huxley found it and made a nest for herself. She loves laying on blankets once she's rearranged them to her liking.

Tabby and Minnie are still using the tub as a litter box. :-( Minnie is bothered by the girls the most. Tabby kind of just does her thing, but poor Minnie gets chased all the time. I don't know how I'm going to break them of this bad habit of going to the bathroom in the tub, but I won't even try to do anything until Huxley and Blitz are gone.

Paulie has come out to my chair and into the kitchen. He's brave enough to do that because the girls are in bed. I hate that I have to make a choice between the cats and the dogs, but I must. I can't have the dogs chasing after the cats every day. It's starting to wear on me. And I also can't keep the dogs out of the kitty litter room. They are always looking to see if there is a cat they can corner in there.

Paulie has gone back to my bathroom because Blitz came out. Now Blitz has gone back to bed. Every morning when I go to take my shower, I have to check to see which cats are in the tub. Then I have to let the girls out so I can get the cats out of the tub. Then I let the girls back in and hopefully the cats haven't headed back to the tub. While I take my shower the girls lay in the hallway outside the bathroom door. They are always there waiting for me.

It's supposed to be a cooler day today, so maybe we can take them for a ride or to the dog park. They need to get out of the house. And so do I.

Busy Body

Blitz is always looking out the window to see if the cat or a rabbit is out there. She's very nosey.

Play date with Woody

Yesterday Lisa and Nick brought Woody over to play with Huxley and Blitz. They got along just fine. It was Lisa and Nick's first time meeting the girls. Huxley and Blitz were very friendly. The three of them didn't play too much, just walked around each other, sniffing. Blitz was a bit timid and stayed by me most of the time. Here are some photos from the play date.

And here's a photo starring "Nick's Feet" with Huxley as the Dog. LOL

Look at Huxley in this one, loving Nick's attention.

And here's a picture of Huxley and Woody staring at each other.

The dogs were together for about an hour. It went very well. I look forward to doing it again soon.

The Sound of Music

It is really hot out today. The dogs have been inside in the airconditioned house most of the day. They were play fighting a lot today. They were fun to watch. And here is a touching moment provided by Huxley and Blitz.

And trying out for the role of Maria, in The Sound of Music, is Blitz. LOL Doesn't she look adorable. She looks like she could read your fortune for you. LOL She cooperated completely while we took this picture of her. I'm sure it will be plastered all over the internet ;-)

My girls

Well, I'm up again in the middle of the night and David and the girls are asleep. They didn't wake me up this time though. They actually stayed in bed when I got up. I tried to go back to bed but couldn't sleep. Just before I got up, Huxley turned over on her back with all four paws in the air. She looked so cute. I got up and again they stayed in bed. I decided to empty the dishwasher since I couldn't sleep. I guess the girls heard me because they got up and came out into the kitchen. Paulie was out there with me. He jumped up on the counter to hide from them. I let them out and Paulie scurried off. I let them back in and Huxley sat immediately for a treat. She is a very smart girl. Blitz will sit if asked, but Huxley knows the routine and sits automatically. Now they're back in bed with David.

I took a picture of them the other day. Blitz was sort of up in David's lap and Huxley was on the floor near his chair. They really do love David.

I know I will miss them when they find forever homes. But it's too much for me to keep up with now because the cats are acting out and going to the bathroom in the tub. I have to clean the tub once or twice every day. I don't blame the dogs. The are hunters and small prey, such as cats, are fun to chase when they run.
I can tell that they need to get out more. They are going a bit stir crazy. I'm not commited enough to them to take them out every day and that's why they need a home where they can get out for walks or outings at the dog park at least three times a week. They still aren't walking well on the leash. They nearly pull my arm out of the socket. LOL
It's almost 3am so I should head to bed. Hopefully they have left enough room for me. :-)
