Foundation Course - 2nd class with Skooter

We practiced:
* sit with gotcha
* flat with a tease but no cue
* quick (come when called, using their name only one time, use vocalizations)
* with me (walk on slack leash, sit when stopped)
Homework - Read:
'Bite Inhibition'
'Childproofing'
Practice:
*sit with gotcha * flat with a tease and no cue * quick and * with me
Skooter was less stressed and fearful this week. His first week he seemed very timid and shy. He was very distracted during training and did not like any of the treats I brought (I brought five different treats!). He performed his behaviors better for others (classmates, trainer) than for me. The assistant, Kristi, brought in some pepperoni to use as a treat. He liked that. He ignored toys and project toys that I brought. Skooter got to be the demo-dog for 'with me'. He did an excellent job. He sat every time Ruth stopped. I was so proud of him. I was beaming. Ruth had to say that it wasn't going to be that easy, that the dog usually doesn't sit like that right away. But Skooter seemed to know what was required of him.
Class was difficult becuase Skooter didn't like any of the treats that I brought. He didn't do most behaviors until the instructor came over to help. He turned it around a bit in the end though. Thank goodness for pepperoni!
