let them out of their kennels to go out. When they came back in Moped went right to the end table to steal the remote control. I ignored him until he came back to me. I then took the remote (I should have traded with him, a treat for the remote), I had to fight with Moped to get him on his tie down. He jumps on the couch, puts his head between the cushions on the couch, chews on his tie down (even though he has a meat bone and a toy).
When I call Skooter, he ignores me for a few seconds. Then he comes to me and lets me put him on tie down.
I get my breakfast first and they watch me eat (the leader always eats first). They are still on tie down. Moped does attention seeking behavior (barking, chewing, jumping on the couch). I ignored him and redirected him to chew on his toys.
I had to fight to get Moped off the tie down. He'll sit until I go to touch his collar (he could benefit from 'gotcha'). Once he got off the tie down he ran around and grabbed the tissue box. When I try to put them outside, he brings the tissue box with him to the door and drops it before going out. He also sat before he went out.
Skooter sat to come off of the tie down, let me touch his collar to unhook him and did not fuss. When I try to put him out he is obstinate about not sitting before going out.
When I let them back in, Moped steals the hand held game and runs around with it. I ignore him until he comes to me (again, I should do a trade with him, an appopriate toy or treat for whatever he has taken).
When given the command to 'kennel' neither dog will go in their kennel. Moped will go in to get a treat that's tossed in. Skooter waits me out. I put a treat in his kennel and ignore him until he goes in his kennel. Then I tell him 'good kennel'. (They had to go in their kennels so I could go and shower and get dressed. They can't be on tie down or out unsupervised.)
While I'm getting dressed, Moped begins to whine and scratch on his kennel. Does he need to go out to go to the bathroom or does he just want out of his kennel? He continues to whine and scratch until I come into the living room.
I need Moped to calm down. I want him to walk out of his kennel/off tie down and not run around, jump on the furniture, steal stuff. I want him to walk to the door and not jump up and scratch on the door and sit when I say 'out' and wait until the door is opened. When he comes in, I want him to walk in, walk around (not run like a wild child) sit down or lie down, play with his toys/project toys. When I tell him to kennel, I want him to do it immediately.
While I was preparing my lunch, Moped started whining and scratching. Skooter was whining. Once again, I don't know if they need to go out to go to the bathroom or if they just want to get out of their kennels and run around. I don't let them out whatever the reason, because they are whining, and that would just reinforce negative behavior.
If I put them on the tie down I have to watch them the whole time because they chew on inappropriate things (thier tie downs, nearby blankets, the couch) or gig at the rug. And if I let them outside, Skooter would just jump the fence anyway.
When they stopped whining, I gave each of them a Buster Cube. They played with those for a few minutes then started whining and scratching again. When they stopped whining, I let them out and put them on tie down. Skooter sat so I could hook him up. I had to fight Moped to get him hooked up. Both behaved on tie down for a few minutes. Then Skooter started barking and whining. Moped started jumping on the couch. Moped did play with some of his available toys.
I realize that they spend the majority of thier time watching me and I spend a lot of time looking at them.
